At a Glance Mohongonj
Mohanganj upazila of Netrokona district, known as the capital of lower Bengal, is an ancient town. Mohan Saha was a well-known businessman. The city is known to have been named after him. Mohanganj has been a notable trading center of paddy, jute, fish and sorghum since the British rule. Considering its economic importance, the construction work of Mohanganj railway station was started in 1925. 1926 Railways became the guru. Mohanganj is the most important city in terms of communication with the capitals of 08/08 upazilas of Sunamganj and Habiganj districts of greater Sylhet. At present bus service of 04/05 transport companies is running on Dhaka-Mohanganj route with Rajdhani.

 Mohanganj Municipality was established in 1975 AD. The potential for infrastructural development in the municipality is immense. Mohanganj is an upazila with equal potential for conducting economic activities by water. At one time large boats loaded with paddy and jute used to ply through the Shialjani canal flowing through the heart of Mohanganj municipality. In the evolution of time, the canal is almost extinct today. Immediate repairs to the canal have been made. Mohanganj carries a unique common heritage in education, sports and culture.

 Location: 24 ° 458 to 24 ° 558 north latitude and 90 ° 558 to 91 ° 08 east longitude. Barhatta upazila of Netrokona district and Dharmapasha upazila of Sunamganj district on the north, Khaliajuri upazila of Netrokona district and Jamalganj upazila of Sunamganj district on the east, Madan upazila of Netrokona district on the south and Atpara upazila and Barhatta upazila of Netrokona district on the west.

 Mohanganj Thana, the famous administration of Bhatibangla, was formed on 7 April 1920. It was turned into an upazila in 1982.

Mohanganj is an upazila of immense potential.
